The following will provide a short introduction to some of the new functionalities in Resource Central.
More information can be found in the different user guides for Resource Central and other features can be seen in the Revision History.
Prioritized reservations
It is now possible to reserve a desk or a group of desks for a team, department or individuals. Reserving a resource means that nobody else than the applied groups or individuals can book the resource until X days before. When the ‘release date’ is reached, everybody else (with the right permissions) can book the resource.
When enabled with a new parameter ‘ResourceFinder.PriorityReservation.Enable’, a new section will be available on all resources with the resource type Light or Pooled resource.
The priority can be applied per weekday, so it is possible to give priority to Finance on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and to Sales on Tuesdays and Thursdays if those i.e. are the ‘in-office-days’ for these teams.
Additional new parameters:
‘ResourceFinder.PriorityReservation.WeeklyHoliday’ defines which days in the week that should be defined as holiday.
‘ResourceFinder.PriorityReservation.DaysReservered’ defines how many days before booking the resource should be released to other .
Buffer time – nudging or declining
Buffer time is only visible when selecting resources in the add-ins. It has been requested that bookings made without using the add-ins would also apply to the buffer time. We have applied a new ‘Buffer time conflict’ feature in the resource details under ResourceFinder Properties. If a booking is violating the buffer time of bookings before and/or after, a message can be sent to the organizer, or the violating booking can be declined.
The message to the violating organizers can be configured in multiple languages.
Outlook Add-in
With the new version of the Outlook Add-in (Part of Clients Apps Application) we have focused on two things – Load performance and support of Nested App Authentication.
Regarding the load performance we were getting first customer feedback that the load was not acceptable, and we looked at why. One thing in particular that could give a slower load was the Add-in's authentication process between Resource Central and Microsoft’s Add-in framework. This has now been addressed, and the load results are much better.
Microsoft just published Nested App Authentication (NAA) for their Outlook Add-in authentication. This feature can now be used together with Add-On Product’s Outlook Add-in.
Be aware If NAA is not setup in your environment the Outlook Add-in will ask for authentication every time it is opened in Outlook on the Web after upgrading to Service Release 3.
Our guide on how to set it up for the Outlook Add-in can be found here
