How to perform Add-in 4.1 deployment using command line, PowerShell or Windows Terminal

Requirements

Go to System Requirements page in Add-On Products website to have an overview of System requirements for Resource Central (RC).

NOTE: When you deploy Add-in 4.1 using the Command line (or PowerShell, Windows Terminal), you must open the Command Prompt line (or PowerShell, Windows Terminal) with the option “Run as Administrator”.

Advantages of deployment using command line

  • It is possible to predefine some add-in configuration such as RC backend URL address, RC backend compatibility.
  • It is possible to track deployment process with installation log.

Predefine add-in configuration properties

Use this property with value “1” if Add-in is deployed for All users (per machine) 

DEFAULT_LOCATION

ID of location tree in RC (e.g. ID of root location is 47)


This property is used to set a default location for the first use of ResourceFinder


Add-in deployment using command line (with parameters)

NOTE: For silent mode, need to put in both /S before /V[] and in [] need /q or /quiet.

Deploy for ALL USERS (per machine) with predefined properties

Open the Command Prompt with option “Run as Administrator” and enter the following command:

ResourceCentralAddin.4.01.xxx.exe /S /V[/L*V "log.txt" RESOURCECENTRAL_URL=http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral ALLUSERS=1 /quiet]


Open the PowerShell, Windows Terminal with the option “Run as Administrator” and enter the following command:

.\ResourceCentralAddin.4.01.xxx.exe /S /V[/L*V "log.txt" RESOURCECENTRAL_URL=http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral ALLUSERS=1 /quiet]

NOTE:

  • /S: silent mode
  • /V[]: pass in parameters to setup process, it must be put between [ and ]

In which, you can:

  • Change http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral with your URL Address of Resource Central backend.

Deploy PER USER with predefined properties

Open the Command Prompt with the option “Run as Administrator” and enter the following command:

ResourceCentralAddin.4.01.xxx.exe /S /V[/L*V "log.txt" RESOURCECENTRAL_URL=http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral ALLUSERS=0 /quiet]


Open the PowerShell, Windows Terminal with the option “Run as Administrator” and enter the following command:

.\ResourceCentralAddin.4.01.xxx.exe /S /V[/L*V "log.txt" RESOURCECENTRAL_URL=http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral ALLUSERS=0 /quiet]


In which, you can:

  • Change http://RCServerName.domain/ResourceCentral with your URL Address of Resource Central backend.
